Unlike any other video game technology on the market, the new Kinect system for the XBox 360 allows users to play Kinect games without even having to use a controller. The ingenious new Kinect sensor allows players to become one with their game with this new intuitive, and pretty much invisible, technology. There are no complicated gizmos and gadgets, and no time spent trying to figure out how to use the controller. With the new Kinect technology, the person playing the game is the controller. This new gaming experience is based on your movements and actions, including your facial expressions and even your voice. Microsoft looks like they have something here that will basically transform the way people play video games AND interact with their entertainment systems.
But, it is not just about the new Kinect XBox games, there are a number of new features and upgrades for XBox as well. The new Xbox 360 is Kinect ready as soon as it comes out of the box. It features a new design that is sleek and bold and has a new glossy black finish. It also comes with built in Wi-Fi and a 250GB hard drive and is amazingly quiet. The Kinect technology is also going to affect the way Xbox Live is used. By simply using the wave of a hand users will be able to navigate menus. They will also be able to use their voice to make selections as well.
Another amazing feature of this technology is the Xbox LIVE Video Kinect. From the comfort of your living room users will be able to chat live using MSN Messenger or even be able to chat with each other from one Xbox 360 to another. The built in “Autozoom Focus” that comes with the Kinect technology will keep you in the frame automatically by following and finding you whenever you move.
The World Premier of Project Natal, or Kinect, was recently shown on MTV and Nick at Nite. The Kinect sensor will require 175MB of memory and will be available to the general public in November of 2010. Kinect games will also be available at that time, and by taking a look at these it can help in understanding how this new controller free technology is going to work.
